Flame And Wind : A Teen's Perspective on Holding On

The candle flame

dims and flickers,

from time to time,

orange, red and yellow;

burning to touch.

Dangerous.

The wind — ferocious, unforgiving,

takes everything along,

in its gushing manner, stirring a storm.

The candle flame, dancing merrily,

encounters the gushing, roaring wind,

and wavers a little,

and a little yet more,

till it is barely existent.

The wind huffs and puffs,

tries to put out the flame,

but in vain —

because the flame is built on resilience,

and courage its cornerstone.

And once the wind had given up,

the flame, which was barely visible,

flickered back to life — a great and magnificent flame.

Once again.
